Actually, Philosophers’ Walk is much-tamed from the way it was in my day – for a good reason. It was much darker at night, more secluded, with grassy mounds that added greatly to the sense of mystery and sequestered space within a downtown campus … but also made it quite dangerous after dark. They smoothed it over, cleared sightlines, and added extra lighting a number of years ago. –GGK
